Measuring cups and spoons.
- 4 slices Bread white, brioche, or whole wheat work well
- 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter softened
- ½ cup Almond flour or finely ground almonds
- 3 tablespoons Granulated sugar
- 1 large Egg
- ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon Almond extract optional but lovely
- a small pinch Salt
- 2 tablespoons Sliced almonds optional, for topping
In a mixing bowl, add the softened butter and sugar. Mix until smooth and creamy.
Add the egg and stir until fully combined.
Mix in the almond flour, vanilla extract, almond extract, and salt. The mixture should be spreadable, not runny.
Lay the bread slices on a tray or plate. Spread a generous layer of the almond mixture on one side of each slice.
Sprinkle sliced almonds on top if using.
Toast in a toaster oven or oven at 180°C (350°F) for 10–12 minutes, or until golden and lightly crisp.
Let cool for a minute before serving. The topping will set slightly as it cools.
