- 1 pound 450g ground beef
- 1 medium onion finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder optional but lovely
- 1 cup 100–120g shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup Bisquick baking mix
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs

Step 2: Brown the Beef
Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until the beef is fully browned and the onion is soft and translucent. This usually takes about 7–8 minutes.
Drain any excess grease if necessary. Stir in the salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Taste carefully and adjust seasoning if needed.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the Bisquick, milk, and eggs until smooth. Do not overmix; just blend until combined. The batter will be fairly thin.
Step 5: Pour and Bake
Carefully pour the batter over the beef and cheese. It will look like the liquid is sitting on top, but during baking, it will rise and surround the filling.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
