Equipment

  • Large pot for boiling pasta
  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Colander for draining pasta
  • Measuring cups and spoons.
  • Cheese grater (if using block cheese)
  • Mixing bowl (optional for prepping ingredients)

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces linguini pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs oregano, basil, thyme mix
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley optional for garnish
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for heat
  • 1/4 cup reserved pasta water to loosen sauce

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add linguini and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Ground Beef

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Season with salt, pepper, and dried Italian herbs. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Step 3: Make Garlic Butter Sauce

  • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1–2 minutes). Be careful not to burn it!

Step 4: Combine Pasta and Beef

  • Add the drained linguini and cooked ground beef back into the skillet. Toss to coat everything with the garlic butter.

Step 5: Add Cheese

  • Sprinkle in Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses. Toss until the cheese melts and coats the pasta. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water to loosen it.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

  • Sprinkle chopped parsley and red pepper flakes (if using) on top. Serve immediately while warm and cheesy.
