Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons
  • Wooden or metal skewers
  • Baking sheet or grill pan
  • Small whisk or spoon
  • Basting brush
  • Tongs
  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves finely minced
  • 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the shrimp

  • Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Removing excess moisture helps the seasoning stick better and allows the shrimp to cook evenly.

Step 2: Make the garlic parmesan marinade

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, melted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • Stir in the grated parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. The mixture should look slightly thick and fragrant.

Step 3: Coat the shrimp

  • Add the shrimp to the bowl and toss gently until each piece is evenly coated with the garlic parmesan mixture.
  • Let the shrimp marinate for about 10 minutes so the flavors absorb.

Step 4: Thread onto skewers

  • Thread the shrimp onto skewers, piercing each shrimp through the tail and head end so they stay secure during cooking.
  • Leave a little space between each shrimp for even heat circulation.

Step 5: Cook the skewers

  • You can cook the shrimp using one of the following methods:
  • Grill Method: Grill over medium heat for 2–3 minutes per side until shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  • Oven Method: Place skewers on a lined baking sheet and broil for about 4 minutes per side.
  • Stovetop Method: Cook on a grill pan over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes per side.

Step 6: Finish and serve

  • Once cooked, sprinkle additional parmesan and fresh parsley over the skewers. Serve immediately with lemon wedges.
