Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons.
  • Stand mixer, dough hook (not mandatory, yet useful)
  • Wooden spoon
  • Dough scraper
  • Clean kitchen towels
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Pastry brush
  • Oven

Ingredients

For the Rolls

  • 1 cup warm milk 110F–115F
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup softened butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour additional as required

For Brushing

  • 3 tbsp melted butter

To Cinnamon Butter (Not compulsory, but customary)

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

Activate the Yeast

  • Heat the milk until it becomes hot, but not too hot to touch. Pour it into a large bowl. Add the sugar and yeast. Blend and allow the mixture to rest for 5-10 minutes. You know when the surface foams, then your yeast is alive.

Mix the Dough

  • Add butter, salt, and egg, which have been softened. Blend until it becomes mixed. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, until you have a soft dough, which still sticks a little, but separates only a little, and is still in the bowl.

Knead the Dough

  • The kneading can be done by fingers or a mixer. The length of time is normally 6-8 minutes. The dough is supposed to be smooth, stretchy, and soft.

First Rise

  • Put the dough in a bowl that is greased, cover it with a clean towel, and allow it to rise for 1 hour. It will be twice its size - there is nothing like seeing dough rise to be considered a minor miracle.

Shape the Rolls

  • Slap the dough back and roll it out on flour. Dice into even pieces - you ought to have about 15-18 rolls each of various sizes. Roll each piece into a round ball or into a roll a little longer, and a soft roll like Logan.

Second Rise

  • Roll each roll onto a piece of parchment baking sheet. Re-cover and allow to rise 30 minutes. They’ll puff up beautifully.

Bake

  • Bake at 350°Ffor  15-17 minutes until top is lightly golden. Not too dark, or they will appear like Logan himself, with his light, soft colour.

Butter the Tops

  • Rub with melted butter immediately upon leaving the oven. This is done to provide them with the now-known glossy look and soft touch.

Prepare Cinnamon Butter (Not mandatory but advisable)

  • Combine softened butter, powdered sugar, honey, and cinnamon. Whip until smooth and fluffy.
  • But put it on hot rolls... and do not fall in love right off.
