  • Cocktail shaker (or a mason jar with a tight lid)
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Citrus juicer (handheld is fine)
  • Small plate (for salting the rim)
  • Margarita glasses or rocks glasses
  • Ice (lots of it)
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board

Ingredients
  

For One Perfect Margarita

  • 2 oz silver tequila 100% agave – very important
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice about 1 juicy lime
  • 1 oz orange liqueur Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • ½ oz simple syrup adjust to taste
  • Ice as needed

For the Glass

  • Kosher salt for rimming
  • Lime wedge for garnish

Instructions
 

Prep your glass

  • Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass. Dip it gently into kosher salt. Set aside.

Fill your shaker

  • Add a generous scoop of ice to your cocktail shaker.

Add the liquids

  • Pour in tequila, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, and simple syrup.

Shake like you mean it

  • Shake hard for about 15–20 seconds. You want it cold, slightly frothy, and well mixed.

Strain and serve

  • Strain into your prepared glass filled with fresh ice.

Garnish and enjoy

  • Add a lime wedge. Take a sip. Smile. You did that.
