Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups shredded cheese mozzarella and cheddar blend works beautifully
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease your baking dish or loaf pan generously with butter. Set it aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder until everything is evenly combined. This helps the bread rise evenly and keeps the flavor balanced.
  • In a medium saucepan, heat the milk and butter over low heat. Stir gently until the butter is fully melted. Do not let it boil. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly so it doesn’t scramble the egg.
  • Once the milk mixture is warm but not hot, whisk in the egg until smooth.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Use a wooden spoon or spatula to gently mix until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms. Do not overmix.
  • Fold in the shredded cheese. Make sure the cheese is evenly distributed throughout the dough so every bite gets that cheesy goodness.
  • Transfer the dough into the prepared baking dish. Gently spread it out and smooth the top with your spatula or lightly buttered hands.
  • Brush the top generously with melted butter. This helps create a golden, flavorful crust.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with a few cheesy crumbs.
  • Remove from the oven and brush with a little more melted butter while it’s still hot. Let the bread rest for about 10 minutes before slicing or tearing into it.
