Equipment

  • Large skillet or Dutch oven
  • Large pot for boiling pasta
  • Wooden spoon
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons.
  • Colander
  • Cheese grater

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces spaghetti
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 6 slices bacon chopped
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 14.5 oz diced tomatoes
  • 1 can 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the spaghetti

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2: Cook the bacon

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped bacon and cook until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the pan.

Step 3: Brown the beef

  • Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Step 4: Add onion and garlic

  • Stir in the diced onion and cook for about 3–4 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Step 5: Build the sauce

  • Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste to the skillet. Stir well to combine.

Step 6: Add seasoning

  • Mix in Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes.

Step 7: Simmer the sauce

  • Allow the sauce to simmer for about 10 minutes so the flavors can develop and thicken.

Step 8: Combine pasta and sauce

  • Add the cooked spaghetti directly to the skillet. Toss everything together until the noodles are fully coated.

Step 9: Add bacon and cheese

  • Stir the crispy bacon back into the pasta and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.

Step 10: Serve

  • Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
