Equipment

  • Crock Pot (Slow Cooker)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons.
  • Tongs
  • Baking Tray (optional, for broiling)
  • Aluminum foil
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds pork ribs baby back or spare ribs
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder optional for heat
  • 1 tablespoon honey optional for sweetness

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Ribs

  • Start by removing the thin membrane from the back of the ribs. This helps the seasoning soak in better and makes the ribs more tender.

Step 2: Season Generously

  • In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and chili powder. Rub this mixture all over the ribs, making sure every part is coated.

Step 3: Prepare the Sauce

  • In a mixing bowl, combine barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and honey. Stir until smooth.

Step 4: Arrange in Crock Pot

  • Place the ribs inside the crock pot. You may need to cut them into smaller sections to fit.

Step 5: Add Sauce

  • Pour the prepared sauce over the ribs, ensuring they are fully covered.

Step 6: Slow Cook

  • Cover and cook on low for 7 hours or high for 4 hours. Avoid opening the lid too often.

Step 7: Optional Broil

  • For a caramelized finish, transfer ribs to a baking tray, brush extra sauce on top, and broil for 5 minutes.

Step 8: Serve

  • Serve hot with your favorite sides and enjoy every bite.

Notes

  • Always remove the membrane for better texture
  • Don’t skip seasoning—it builds the base flavor
  • Cook on low for best tenderness
  • Avoid too much liquid—the ribs release their own juices
  • Broil at the end for extra flavor
