Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground breakfast sausage
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups baking mix like Bisquick
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Combine Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, add the ground sausage, shredded cheese, baking mix, milk, garlic powder, and black pepper.

Step 3: Mix Thoroughly

  • Using your hands (my preferred method) or a sturdy spoon, mix everything together until fully combined. The mixture should be slightly sticky but hold together when pressed.

Step 4: Shape the Balls

  • Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in size. Try to keep them uniform so they bake evenly.

Step 5: Arrange on Baking Sheet

  • Place the sausage balls on your prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.

Step 6: Bake to Perfection

  • Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown and cooked through. The tops should look slightly crisp.

Step 7: Cool and Serve

  • Let them cool for a few minutes before serving. They’re best enjoyed warm when the cheese is still melty.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheese for better texture
  • Don’t overmix the dough
  • Keep the size consistent for even baking
  • If mixture feels dry, add a splash of milk
  • Bake until just golden, not overly dark
