A container or an Airtight jar to store in.
- 1 cup mayonnaise good quality is a point
- 2 tbsp sour cream or Greek yogurt.
- 2 cloves minced or grated garlic.
- Juice of 1 fresh lime
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp chili powder add to taste
- ½ tsp cumin
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt or to taste
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Optional: half a pinch of cayenne or hot sauce to make it hotter.
- Fresh cilantro chopped fine to garnish or to mix in
Combine the sour cream and the mayonnaise in a medium mixing bowl and whisk together. This provides the creamy texture to the sauce.
Add the minced garlic, lime juice, and olive oil. Whisk till thoroughly mixed.
Add smoked paprika, chili powder, cumin, onion powder, salt and black pepper. Whisk until the sauce appears smooth, and the spices are completely combined.
Dip a spoon in and taste. Prefer it to be spicier, add a pinch of cayenne or a splash of hot sauce. You can squeeze more lime in, should you desire it to be tangier.
Put the sauce into a jar, close it, and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes. This is a very important step- it enables the flavours to blend and intensify.
Serve with grilled chicken, roasted potatoes, or tacos, or simply place it out as a dip. There can be nothing like people buzzing around.
