Equipment

  • Small mixing bowl or mason jar
  • Whisk or fork
  • Citrus juicer
  • Microplane or zester
  • Measuring cups and spoons.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice about 2–3 limes
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey or granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Optional Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder or smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard for extra emulsification

Instructions

Step 1: Juice and Zest the Citrus

  • Juice the limes and orange, then zest one lime. The aroma should be fresh and fragrant — that citrus oil is pure flavor.

Step 2: Build the Flavor Base

  • In a bowl, whisk together lime juice, orange juice, zest, honey, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and pepper until fully dissolved.

Step 3: Emulsify the Dressing

  • Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while whisking continuously. The vinaigrette should thicken slightly and look glossy and smooth.

Step 4: Taste and Adjust

  • Taste the vinaigrette and adjust salt or sweetness as needed. Citrus intensity can vary, so trust your palate.

Step 5: Chill (Optional but Recommended)

  • Let the dressing rest in the fridge for 20–30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
