Equipment

  • Medium saucepan or skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons.
  • Colander (if using canned corn)
  • Serving bowl

Ingredients

  • 4 cups corn kernels fresh, frozen, or canned
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream optional, for extra creaminess
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder optional
  • Fresh parsley chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prep Your Corn

  • When you are using fresh corn, remove it from the cob. When frozen, there is no need to thaw--into the pan. If canned, drain well.

Step 2: Melt the Butter

  • Melt the butter in a medium saucepan on medium heat. Allow it to become slightly golden and nutty--this gives it the added richness.

Step 3: Add the Corn

  • Add the corn kernels and then stir them in the butter. Allow them to sizzle between 3 and 5 minutes.

Step 4: Creamy Sweetness

  • Add sugar, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Then pour in the cream. Stir and simmer everything approximately 8-10 minutes, until all the corn is tender, creamy, and buttery delicious.

Step 5: Taste and Adjust

  • And this is the magic place -try it. Add more salt if you need. Others even prefer that cute addition of a sprinkle of sugar to get that trademark balance.

Step 6: Serve and Garnish

  • Pour into a serving dish, serve with parsley, and warm.
