Equipment

  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons.
  • Rubber spatula
  • Airtight container for chilling

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice or white vinegar

Instructions

Step 1: Mix the Base

  • In a medium bowl, add the mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk. Whisk until completely smooth and creamy.
  • You want no lumps here. This is the foundation.

Step 2: Add the Seasonings

  • Add garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill, dried parsley, black pepper, salt, and lemon juice.
  • Stir well until everything is evenly combined.

Step 3: Taste and Adjust

  • This is important. Taste the dip.
  • Want more tang? Add a splash of buttermilk or lemon juice.
  • Want more savory depth? Add a pinch more garlic powder.
  • Too thick? Thin it slightly with buttermilk, one tablespoon at a time.

Step 4: Chill

  • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 1–2 hours. This gives the flavors time to blend and deepen.
  • The dip will thicken slightly as it chills.
