For the Sandwich:
- 1 very large soft sub roll or hoagie roll fresh is preferred
- 1/3 to 1 cup cooked turkey breast sliced or shredded.
- 1/2 to 1 cup ready stuffing herbed, savory, all your favorites
- 4 oz. cranberry sauce homemade or purchased
- 1-2 tablespoons mayonnaise optional but very recommended
- A small portion of salt and black pepper.
- Sauce of turkey gravy added to make it richer
Optional Add-Ins:
- just a few greens spinach is good
- Crunchy cucumber slices.
- A hot sauce of gravy on the turkey.
- Toasted roll for crisp edges
- Sprinkled with some fresh herbs such as thyme or parsley.
Heat the Turkey (But Not Included, Yet Incredible)
Cold turkey works, but it is so much cozier to make the sandwich with a turkey that is warmed lightly.
Put your turkey pieces in a low-heat skillet. Add one teaspoon of water or gravy and heat it up for 2-3 minutes. Don't cook it--just reheat it.
Prep the Roll
Cut your sub roll, but not all the way in half-- consider opening a book.
Spread inside a thin layer of mayo.
Mayo makes everything wet and equal.
(Optional) Add a Touch of Gravy
Should you desire a really homey, fall-in-your-mouth piece, pour on a tablespoonful of hot gravy over turkey, and then stuff. Not conventional, yet tasty.
Close and Serve
Fold the roll and squeeze it in order to make everything to fall into place.
You can cut it in half, or you can eat it whole (I prefer doing the latter).
