One big skillet to cook the filling in.
A coated baking sheet with parchment paper.
A rolling pin (when you make your own dough)
A pastry brush (for egg wash)
A sharp sealing and scoring knife.
- 1 lb ground beef or pork sausage
- 1 small onion finely diced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 tube refrigerated biscuit dough or homemade pastry
- 1 egg for egg wash
- Optional Add-Ins: diced jalapeños bell peppers, or a spoonful of marinara for dipping
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook the filling. Brown your ground meat in a skillet with diced onions until it is cooked. Sprinkle with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Let it cool slightly.
Prepare the dough. Roll the biscuit dough into circles(squares if you prefer).
Stuff and seal. Put one spoonful of filling in the middle, sprinkle with both cheeses, and fold the dough over. Crimp the edges with a fork to close.
Egg wash. Using a beaten egg brush, brush every pocket with it to get that golden look.
Bake. bake on parchment-lined baking sheet, 18 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool slightly. Allow them a little time to rest and yet bite in (trust me on this one).
