Midnight Malibu Dirty Soda Recipe
The Midnight Malibu Dirty Soda Recipe combines bubbly cola, coconut syrup, Malibu rum, lime, and rich cream for a smooth tropical sip.
Equipment
- Tall glass (16 oz works best)
- Measuring jigger or tablespoon
- Citrus juicer (optional but helpful)
- Long spoon for stirring
- Ice scoop
- Small knife and cutting board (for lime)
Ingredients
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 1 cup cola cold
- 2 tablespoons coconut syrup
- 1½ ounces Malibu coconut rum
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream or half-and-half
- Lime wedge or toasted coconut for garnish, optional
Instructions
Step 1: Fill the Glass with Ice
- Start with a tall glass and fill it almost to the top with ice cubes. The drink should be very cold. The ice also helps create those pretty cream swirls later.
Step 2: Add the Coconut Syrup
- Pour 2 tablespoons of coconut syrup directly over the ice. Let it settle at the bottom. This creates a subtle layering effect and ensures every sip has coconut sweetness.
Step 3: Add Malibu Rum
- Measure 1½ ounces of Malibu coconut rum and pour it over the ice. You’ll already start smelling that tropical aroma.
Step 4: Add Fresh Lime Juice
- Squeeze in 1 tablespoon of fresh lime juice. It may not seem like much, but this small amount completely changes the balance of the drink.
Step 5: Pour in the Cola
- Slowly pour 1 cup of cold cola into the glass. Pour gently to avoid too much foam. You’ll see everything start to blend beautifully.
Step 6: Add the Cream
- Now for the magic. Slowly drizzle 2 tablespoons of heavy cream over the top. Don’t stir immediately. Watch the cream sink and swirl through the cola. It’s honestly one of my favorite parts.
Step 7: Stir Lightly
- Use a long spoon to gently stir once or twice. Don’t overmix. You want some of that marbled look.
Step 8: Garnish and Serve
- Add a lime wedge on the rim or sprinkle a tiny bit of toasted coconut on top if you’re feeling fancy. Serve immediately.
