For the cake:
- 1 ripe banana mashed
- ½ cup natural peanut butter xylitol-free, unsweetened
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 cup whole wheat flour or oat flour for sensitive tummies
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons water or unsalted bone broth
Optional dog-friendly frosting:
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt unsweetened
- 2 tablespoons peanut butter
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease your cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
In a bowl, mash the banana until smooth. A few small lumps are totally fine.
Add the peanut butter, egg, and applesauce. Stir until everything is well combined and creamy.
Sprinkle in the flour and baking powder. Gently mix until just combined.
Add water or bone broth a little at a time to loosen the batter. You want it thick but spreadable.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let the cake cool completely before frosting or serving.
