Equipment

  • A medium mixing bowl
  • A whisk (or fork, when you are of a rustic kind).
  • Measuring cups and spoons.
  • A spatula for scraping every last creamy bit
  • An airtight jar or container for storage

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise use real mayo for best flavor
  • ½ cup buttermilk well shaken
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon dried chives optional but amazing
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Optional:

  • A squeeze of lemon juice or a few drops of Worcestershire sauce for extra depth

Instructions

Mix the base.

  • Whisk mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk in your mixing bowl until smooth and creamy.

Add the flavor magic.

  • Add the garlic powder, onion powder, dill, parsley, chives, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Blend until it is all combined marvelously.

Taste and tweak.

  • Just have a taste of it--you can sprinkle in one more pinch of dill or a splash of vinegar to sharpen the taste.

Chill it.

  • Place a cover on the bowl and refrigerate for at least one hour (even better overnight). This assists in building up the flavors that create Runza-style harmony.

Serve and swoon.

  • Dip, dunk, dribble, or dollop, take it all as you wish.
