Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons.
  • Spoon or spatula for mixing

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked chicken finely chopped or shredded
  • Rotisserie chicken works perfectly
  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • ½ cup celery finely diced
  • ¼ cup sweet pickle relish
  • ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon sugar optional, but recommended

Optional add-ins (not traditional, but tasty):

  • 2 tablespoons finely diced onion
  • A splash of lemon juice for brightness

Instructions

Prep the chicken

  • Chop or shred the cooked chicken into small, bite-sized pieces. You want it chunky but not huge.

Mix the creamy base

  • In a large bowl, stir together mayonnaise, mustard, salt, pepper, and sugar until smooth.

Add the crunch

  • Fold in the diced celery and sweet pickle relish. Mix gently.

Combine with chicken

  • Add the chicken to the bowl and stir until everything is evenly coated.

Taste and adjust

  • This is important. Taste it. Add more salt, pepper, or a tiny bit more relish if needed.

Chill before serving

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps the flavors settle and come together.
