Introduction
There is no single dish that can embrace you in a hugging way than this Crock Pot Pierogi and Kielbasa Casserole Recipe. It is corny, warming, and just the kind of comfort meal you desire when the weather turns colder or you are simply feeling the need to warm up.
I recall when I first prepared this casserole- it was a cold night, and I needed something good to eat and something that would make me feel at home. Spoiler: this one nailed it.
What Is Crock Pot Pierogi and Kielbasa Casserole?
Consider it the comfort meal of all comfort meals of Eastern European roots and a new-fangled slow cooker spin. You have got tender pierogi piles with smoky slices of kielbasa, which is smothered in this creamy, cheesy sauce and cooked low and slow until all comes together so beautifully.
All the heavy lifting is done by the Crock Pot here- you layer, cover, and leave it to do everything.
My First Crock Pot Pierogi and Kielbasa Casserole Story.
I came across this recipe when I was searching for what to do with a bag of frozen pierogis in my freezer. Kielbasa was in the fridge, and I had a small amount of sour cream and cheese (always cheese). The kitchen was heavenly scented by the time it was cooked.
We sat and had a bite, and I knew at once this was going to be a repeat recipe. The sausage-filled sauce and light, fluffy pierogis that are smoked? Dreams of comfort food, there.

Step 4
Pour the sauce. Pour your creamy sauce on top and cover it.
Step 5
Cook it slow. Make and cook low and cover with 4-5 hours or till heated through and bubbling.
Step 6
Garnish and serve. Sprinkle with fresh parsley, serve hot, and you will see everyone go back to take more than once.

Secrets to Success
- There is no need to thaw the pierogis, then layer them- they cook better in their frozen state.
- Smoky flavor is best achieved by using good-quality kielbasa.
- Some cheese sprinkled over in the final half-hour? Never a bad idea.
The reason this Crock Pot Pierogi and Kielbasa Casserole Recipe is always a sure thing.
This is a sure win each and every time, as the recipe is a mixture of creamy, smoky, and even cheesy.
The pierogis absorb the correct amount of the sauce without collapsing, and the gradual cooking process of the dish is like a warm embrace.
It is the type of food one can place and leave behind and still have everyone at the table impressed.
Serving and Pairing Ideas
This can be served with a crisp side salad, or you can serve it with some roasted vegetables to lighten it up. Garlic bread also goes well (since carbs are fond of carbs). The smoky and creamy flavors are best matched with a cold beer or a glass of crisp white wine.
Flavor Variations
Spicy Kick: Add a slice of hot sauce or jalapeño pepper.
Veggie Twist: Before layering, add some sautéed mushrooms, onions or bell peppers.
Extra Creamy: Add a bit of cream cheese to the sauce mixture.
